"This letter provides my support for John Short for the Conejo Recreation and Park District’s Board of Directors. I have been a board member of the CRPD Board for the past 20-years.  In having served the community I have learned that there is much more to the District than sports fields and recreation programs.  CRPD plays a vital role in the community offering not just quality facilities and recreation programs but runs the Goebel Adult Center serving our senior community, the therapeutics program assisting the physically and mentally challenged, assist the Sheriff’s Department with the after school programs at Warwick as part of the Safe Passages Program and many more. As such, an effective board member needs to be able to address these as well as making sure that the District is financially stable.

John Short has a history of community involvement extending beyond sports programs. He has been a leader for Relay for Life and has worked to assist our veterans in the annual Stand Down efforts. His involvement and experienced with the City of Thousand Oaks as part of the Investment Oversight Committee has allowed him to assure that public funds are carefully and effectively managed.

John cares about the community. He will put in the time necessary to assure that all stakeholders have a voice. His ability to listen and develop an informed opinion set him apart from most other candidates. John has the endorsement of many of the City, Park District and School District leaders. He will continue to work to assure that these three entities provide the community with the resources needed.

Join me and vote for John Short for CRPD Board of Directors on November 6.

"John Short has our vote to be returned to the Conejo Recreation and Park District Board of Directors.  His years of serving the children of this region and, as a former CRPD board member, have been selfless and effective.  John lives and works in the Conejo Valley.  As an experienced expert financial advisor, he will be a guardian of Park District fiscal sustainability in addition to carrying out its mission of healthy family recreation, while preserving and maintaining our abundant, extraordinary permanent open space.  For what it's worth to Acorn readers, we, who came to this valley before the District was formed, urge readers to join us in voting John Short back onto the Park Board".

"We have had the pleasure of knowing John Short for over 20 years. When we first met John he was active in youth sports activities in the Conejo Valley. His tireless volunteer efforts include President of Thousand Oaks Little League (13 years), Chairing the 50th Anniversary Parade for the City of Thousand Oaks, and emceeing the Relay for Life of the Conejo Valley and being on the Board of Directors of the Conejo Valley Days. John works tirelessly for the community not looking for acknowledgement or accolades but rather trying to make a difference.

John has organized several local events supporting the community including the annual "Ride for the Blue" honoring local law enforcement agencies and the annual "Give Cancer the Boot" concert at the Borderline

His prior experience on the Board of Directors with the Conejo Recreation and Park District, and his 32 years as a Financial Advisor makes him the most qualified candidate for the position. We whole heartedly support John Short for the Conejo Recreation and Park District this November."
