John as been a Board Member with Rolling Thunder Ca. 1 for several years. This group supports local veterans that are in need and rides for fallen first responders (including military, fire, police) to protect them against protesters.
It has been almost 15 years since John first was on the planning committee for this new park. Over the years there have been several renditions and it has finally come together to be a breathtaking park for all to enjoy. When John was on the Conejo Recreation and Park Board of Directors, he worked tirelessly to find a solution to this expansive piece of land that would provide amenities for all to enjoy. Come out for the ribbon cutting and bring the family.
As the past president and current board member with the Community Leaders Association at California Lutheran University, each year John along with the other CLA member's recognize the new faculty that have joined the university. This mixer is a wonderful way to bring the community and the faculty together.
For the past several years John has had the pleasure of emceeing this walk held at the Collections in Oxnard. It is a wonderful event to raise money and awareness to help find the cure for Alzheimer's. Hope you can join us.
For the past 15 years John has volunteered as an actor with the Reign of Terror. This is a local haunted house (above Gold's Gym in the Janss Marketplace). This 23,000 square feet of horror raises money each year for the Conejo Recreation and Park District's Teen Center and the Young Artists Ensemble Theater Group.
John has had the opportunity to emcee for Relay for Life event's in Westlake, Conejo Valley, California Lutheran University and Simi Valley for over 10 years. This is a power event that raises money and awareness to help fight and find a cure for cancer. If you have never been to one of these events please come out to the Simi Towne Center and witness first hand an amazing event surrounded by amazing people.

The Mark Mathew's leadership forum is a powerful tool which provides an opportunity for leaders in the community to interact with students at California Lutheran University, through a networking reception, dinner and a guest speaker. John who is a member and past president of the Community Leaders Association at CLU was instrumental in bringing this event back to the university almost 10 years ago. The local Acorn Newspaper is hosting a candidate forum for the Conejo Recreation and Park District and the Conejo Valley Unified School District candidates. Please join us at the Goebel Adult Center's main ballroom and support John as he fields rather complex questions from the moderators. Make sure you are there by 5:30 to get a good seat. Seating is limited as it is a first come first served basis.
